Sammie Coates could be a future superstar in the NFL.
Hopefully, it’s while he’s playing for the Seattle Seahawks.
Coates is raw as a prospect, but that’s why many have him going in the second round. Auburn does not run a pro-style offense, which also hurts Coates’ draft stock. However, Coates has elite physical tools and can be the deep-threat that the Seahawks so desperately need. He reminds me a lot of Demaryius Thomas, another raw prospect coming out of Georgia Tech, a program that runs the triple option.
Two of his touchdowns came against the vaunted Alabama Crimson Tide defense, when he roasted the Tide’s secondary for 206 yards.
Put this kid in man coverage and he’s long gone. If Marshawn Lynch decides to stay, this pick would be the ideal situation for the Seahawks.
Teams have to account for Lynch by putting more men in the box, but if you leave Coates in single, I can assure you that he’ll leave that corner in the dust.
Just check out the highlights from this year’s Iron Bowl.
