Once the offseason had started I felt that the biggest position of need for the Seattle Seahawks was at cornerback. With Byron Maxwell leaving to sign a rich contract with the Philadelphia Eagles and many of the other corners on the roster dealing with pretty serious injuries, both a starter opposite Richard Sherman and some depth was much needed.
With the news that Seattle has signed Will Blackmon yesterday and that former Eagles corner Cary Williams is about to sign, corner is no longer the most pressing need for the Seahawks to address.
The Seahawks had to make the unfortunate decision to cut ties with tight end Zach Miller after the former Pro Bowler failed a team physical. The move saved the team nearly $3 million in cap space and it’s very likely that the money will be re-invested into the tight end position.
Anthony McCoy just re-signed with Seattle, even though he too is battling injuries and rarely contributed to the 2014 squad. Luke Willson remains the Seahawks top tight end up to this point and the team was rumored to be courting former Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas as well as the Cleveland Browns’ Jordan Cameron to fill the other tight end need.
That being said, let’s take a look at the five best tight ends still available in free agency.
