The 10 worst deals in 2015 NFL Free Agency

2. Andre Johnson, Indianapolis Colts

Contract: 3 years, $21 million

I love Andre. He’s one of my favorite receivers of all-time. He’s also 33 and showing definite signs of aging. This is a classic example of paying a guy for what he’s done in the past and instead of what he’s going to offer the team during the life of the contract.

The guaranteed money involved in this deal locks the Colts to Johnson for at least two seasons. That means that they’ll be running out a 35-year-old possession receiver in 2017 that’ll count almost $8 million against their salary cap.

The Colts spent a lot of money on cap space improving their already-great offense with old players. They also ignored their defense that needs considerable help. This just isn’t a good combination for a team that is hoping to make a run at the Super Bowl.
