Seattle Seahawks Top Breakout Candidates
By Dan Viens
5: Alvin Bailey, G
For Bailey, it isn’t so much a question of ability as it is commitment. He’s shown enough talent to get snaps at Guard and Tackle since signing as an UDFA in 2013, but his propensity to carry too much weight frustrates Seahawks coaches, and prevents him from realizing his full potential.
But with James Carpenter moving on to the New York Jets as a free agent, and the Hawks seemingly content to wait for the draft to add OL talent, Bailey has a legitimate opportunity to start at LG. If he shows up to camp 20 pounds lighter, the job is his to lose.
BEST-CASE SCENARIO: Shows up in shape, wins LG spot, and is long-term starter at that position.
