Seattle Seahawks Top Breakout Candidates
By Dan Viens
1: Cassius Marsh, DE/DT
He looked the part as soon as he stepped on the field after being drafted in the 4th round out of UCLA last year. Blessed with a nasty streak and a high motor, he has the ability to play the edge as well as DT, similar to fellow teammates Michael Bennett and Greg Scruggs.
The Seahawks love this versatility, but also see him as a potential starter and a guy who can consistently get to the QB. He was a terror in training camp last year, working his way into the early-season rotation, but the production in games was lacking and ultimately he ended up on IR with a broken foot.
Assuming he’s fully healed and ready for camp, Marsh will once again have a chance to be the additional weapon the Hawks are searching for to beef up their pass rush.
BEST-CASE SCENARIO: Plays his way into nickel packages and the regular DL rotation, and racks up 8-10 sacks. Potential full-time starter in 2016.
