Seattle Seahawks Deep Roster Sleepers

With the NFL free agency period reduced to rummaging through scraps and just over a month to go until the draft, 90-man rosters around the league are essentially set for now.  New, high-profile signees have been thoroughly analyzed, and updated mock drafts fly at us at a rabid pace, so we’re familiar with most the players new and about-to-be-new.

But what about the bottom of the roster, the practice squad players, the futures-contracts guys?  They’re working as hard as anyone in the league right now (or should be) knowing that mini-camps are coming up soon, and their best chance of making a roster and drawing a regular paycheck in the NFL comes in May and June.

Some of these players are the ones who fascinate me the most.  I’m not talking about the Dion Bailey’s of the world. Bailey was a highly-touted recruit who had a successful career at USC, was signed as a UDFA by the Seahawks, and has a legit shot to make the team as a Free Safety this year with the departure of Jeron Johnson.

He was undrafted, but hardly a “sleeper.”   Anyone who attended a training camp session likely saw Bailey running around making plays, and many of them may have recognized his name from watching Pac-12 football.

But how many of you have ever heard of Douglas McNeil, Jared Wheeler or Brendan Kelly?

Well….. you just did!

Let’s take a look at some of the deep sleepers on the Seahawks roster who just may have a shot to make an impression this offseason.
