If you’ve never seen what goes into the creation of the schedule, I assure you it is much more difficult than you’d first imagine. Teams request certain weeks to be away games as not to compete with other local events close to the stadium, such as Sea Fair or Seattle Mariner games.
While the schedule makers try to accommodate all of the team’s specialized requests, they have to divide up the prime time games somewhat evenly among the 32 teams. Sure, the Seahawks will likely get three or four games on Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football or Monday Night Football compared to the Cleveland Browns’ one or two, but the league has to at least try to give each team some love with the prime time games.
Once all that is calculated and tested to ensure it fits into the NFL’s scheduling policies, like no team playing more than three road games in-a-row, the schedule can finally be revealed.
And like we all know, the NFL will never let an opportunity slip through their hands. NFL Network, ESPN, and all of the other major sports news outlets will be hosting dedicated shows for the schedule release.
