Seahawks 2015 Schedule: A Look At The Key Games
By Dan Viens
Thanks to all the “leaks” throughout the day some of the details of the Seahawks 2015 schedule came as no surprise when the official slate of games was announced at 5:00 PST, but now we can see the entire 17 week lineup in black and white. At first glance, there are a number of key games that stand out above the rest:
And those are………
WEEK 2: September 20, 5:30pm (SNF) @ Green Bay – An early marquee game on the league schedule. The Packers will obviously be chomping at the bit to try and avenge their colossal meltdown in the NFC title game. Once again the league sends the Hawks on the road for a primetime game, and as you’ll see that trend continues.
WEEK 4: October 5, 5:30pm (MNF) vs. Detroit – Seattle gets to welcome Golden Tate back to the Clink in a MNF home game. Seattle gets to sandwich two games against inferior opponents (St. Louis and Chicago) around meetings with potential playoff teams in the Packers and Lions.
WEEK 8: November 1, 1:25pm @ Dallas – Seahawks/Cowboys will be billed as a potential NFC title game preview. Seattle wants badly to make up for last year’s home dud against Dallas. Hawks get the benefit of playing this game 10 days after a Thursday Night Football matchup at San Francisco.
WEEK 9: BYE – Last year we drew the early bye short straw. Week 9 is ideal, splitting the schedule in half and giving team a chance to heal and freshen up for a big stretch run, which starts with……….

WEEK 10: November 15, 5:30pm (SNF) vs. Arizona. Seahawks draw a rare home Sunday Night Football spot against what should be their chief divisional challenger while coming off a bye.
WEEK 14: December 13, 5:30pm (SNF) @ Baltimore – Lots of NBC love this year, this time pitting Seattle against a perennial AFC contender. Key late season test.
WEEK 17: January 3, 1:25pm @ Arizona – We’ve been spoiled the last few years getting to enjoy home cooking in the season’s final week, but this time around the Hawks have to travel to Glendale to face the Cardinals, with huge potential NFL playoff implications on the line.
HONORABLE MENTION: Pittsburgh comes to town in week 12. It will be the first time the Steelers have played in Seattle since they beat the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.
NATIONAL TV APPEARANCES: Seattle is scheduled for 5 primetime games; 3 NBC Sunday Night Football games, and once each on Monday and Thursday. Only two of those 5 are at home, as it appears the league continues to dislike the Hawks history of home primetime blowouts.
SUMMARY: At first glance this schedule has a lot of balance, with no obvious “Murderer’s Row” type stretches. In fact they get a huge advantage with the mid-season BYE, which is then followed by a 3 game homestand. In fact, after the November 1 game at Dallas, the Seahawks are only on the road in 2 of the following 8 weeks.
I like this schedule better than I did when last year’s was first released, and we all know how that one ended up.
