Bobby Wagner signs contract extension with Seattle Seahawks
By Keith Myers
According to NFL Network’s Michael Robinson and Ian Rapaport, the Seattle Seahawks have signed All-Pro middle linebacker Bobby Wagner to contract extension.
Financial terms are currently unknown. I’ll post an update below once they’re released. This is a big deal for the Seattle Seahawks.
Wagner was entering the final year of his rookie contract. If they hadn’t reached an agreement on an extension, the Seahawks would have been forced to use the franchise tag in order to keep him.
This news comes about 36 hours after the Seahawks announced were able to get a contract extension figured out for quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson and Wagner were the team’s biggest priorities this offseason.
That both deals didn’t happen until after the players reported to training camp was the cause of a lot of high blood pressure amongst the fanbase in the last few months.
Update: We still don’t know all the terms of the deal, including bonus and guarantees, but we have a report about the total money in the deal.
Updating the Update: We’ve got the final numbers finally. $22 million guaranteed.
