Seattle Seahawks potential surprise cuts
By Dan Viens
It’s game week!
Well, at least as much as it can be for the first preseason game. The team doesn’t game plan, the starters don’t play much, and we’ll find ourselves using our numerical rosters more than any other time.

But honestly “It’s Fake Game Week!!!” just doesn’t quite have the same impact now does it?
Besides….. beers and parking cost the same, so why shouldn’t we treat it like any other game?
It’s not like there won’t be some storylines regarding the starters and stars on this team, and we’ll delve into those over the next few days. But the primary storylines will involve new faces, rookies and unsigned free agents. The first significant, mandatory cut down day is September 1st when all rosters must be at no more than 75 players, but moves will be made well in advance of that as teams look to solidify their depth charts and create more preseason opportunities for key young players.
But it won’t just be the fringe players packing their bags over the next few weeks. There will certainly be some significant and surprising names going home as well. The spirit of competition is famously prevent at the VMAC this time of year, and the Seahawks have financial challenges that, although the envy of most fledgling teams, still present their own unique challenges.
So here’s my look at some of the most surprising cuts that could come down over the next month, as the Seahawks prepare to launch their quest of going to a third straight Super Bowl.
