LEMUEL JEANPIERRE, C/G:
The center competition this month has been one of the more intriguing and surprising story lines of camp so far. Expected to be a battle between veterans Lemuel Jeanpierre and Patrick Lewis, unheralded defensive line convert Drew Nowak appears to be the front-runner at this point. He’s been alternating most of the first team reps with Jeanpierre, but we all know how well Lewis played when filling in for the injured Max Unger last year.
All the starter reps for Jeanpierre could just be a sign that the team knows what they have in Lewis, and wants to give LJ every opportunity to show he belongs on the final 53.
My guess is relative youth and athletic upside win out, and Lewis and Nowak are your opening day centers.
