10 Reasons to watch the Seahawks Preseason Game 1
By Zachary Wnek
The countdown to football is back! Not meaningful football, mind you but at least it is football. Here is a list of the top 10 things I’m looking for during the Seahawks preseason game 1:

Football! I have been going into withdrawals the last few months without football to watch, fantasy to keep up with and player news to read (other than a long drawn out affair to prove that Brady cheated). Finally we (as a Seahawks reading whole) will have more than speculation and practice reports to drool over.
Center. Seriously, watch the center position on Friday. This is one of our biggest gaps on the team, in my opinion, and sh

ould be amazing to watch. What makes this even more fun to watch is that the Center is in the camera view almost always. The favorite in my mind to win the spot is Lemuel Jeanpierre, however the competition over these next four weeks will determine a winner.

Strong Safety. With Kam Chancellor out (not even in camp yet) it will be a great opportunity for the other strong safties to get some meaningful reps in a game situation. I’m looking forward to watching not only how they play but how they fit in with the rest of the secondary. I’m guessing that De Shawn Shead will get the start but it will be fun to watch Ty Zimmerman and Keenan Lambert as well to see what they can do.

Beast Mode. Just joking here folks, a fair warning if you are tuning in to see Beast Mode in all of his glory, you still have a month until the regular season starts on 9/13 in St. Louis.
Running Backs. Even though Marshawn will not be playing it will be fun to watch Michael and Turbin to see how their off season has gone. Also later in the game look for the rookie backs (couldn’t resist) Rod Smith of Ohio State and Thomas Rawls of Central Michigan.
Bruce Irvin. We have all heard the hype, bigger faster, stronger and ready for a monster contract year. I would like to see the new and improved Irvin in action, which hopefully lives up to the hype machine that he has created.
Rookies. In the second half and especially in the fourth quarter of this game look for the rookies to come out. The first preseason game gives the rookies a great opportunity to showcase their skills. As you have read by now I am excited about seeing the future of the Seahawks and seeing who will make their mark early on in the preseason.

12th Man. I don’t think that there’s any doubt that the 12s will be out in force. We have already heard earlier this week that Peyton doesn’t want to play in Seattle. Let’s rock CLink for the first time this season!
In game interviews. Maybe my favorite part of the pre season is the broadcast. Bringing in former Seahawks (Mack Strong and Warren Moon) to conduct player interviews and break down the action is brilliant. I enjoy watching a completely biased presentation to the game before the national broadcasters come around for the regular season.
Sound off! Readers, you tell me what aspect of the first Seahawks preseason game you are excited about? Who are you looking for on the field to make an impact?
