Fantasy Football 2015: Defense Rankings
By Brad Howell
My fantasy football positional rankings conclude with defense/special teams. I’ve already ranked quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and TE.
Overall, I’m a streaming defense guy so I’ll likely never own any of the top teams on this list. I’d rather spend my draft capital elsewhere and play the matchups.
- Seattle. The defense should be at least as good as last year plus a dynamic return game with Tyler Lockett equals numero uno.
- Buffalo. Defense as good as last year plus Rex Ryan equals…well, you get it.
- Kansas City. Should do well in the sack category again and stand to increase turnovers as well.
- Houston. J.J. Watt.
- St. Louis. That D-line is scary good and Jeff Fisher teams usually do all right in the special teams department.
- Denver. Most of the talk revolves around Peyton Manning, but Denver’s defense sports playmakers at every level.
- Green Bay. Quietly a top-5 defense last season.
- NY Jets. Todd Bowles loves to create havoc in the pocket with his crazy blitzing, which may lead to a lot of interceptions for his loaded secondary.
- Philadelphia. Had 11 DEF/ST touchdowns last season enroute to a number one finish! That’s not sustainable.
- Minnesota. Another year with Zimmer moves them into the top-10 (#14 last year).
- Arizona. How will they react to losing defensive coordinator Todd Bowles?
- Miami. 16th last season and I’m not convinced Suh can even bring them this high.
- Detroit. Lost a couple of important pieces on the defensive line, but that front 7 is still nasty and the secondary is opportunistic.
- Cincinnati. They’ll need to improve on the sack front to move up this list.
- New England. Look, Bill Belichick knows defense but they did lose some serious secondary talent.
I’m only grabbing these guys based on matchups (who’s playing the Titans or the Jags!?!?):
- Baltimore.
- Indianapolis.
- Carolina.
- Dallas.
- Pittsburgh.
- Atlanta.
- Washington.
- New Orleans.
- Cleveland.
