Seattle Seahawks at San Diego Chargers: 5 takeaways from Seattle’s win
By Keith Myers
The Seattle Seahawks travelled to Southern California and escaped with a 16-15 win over the San Diego Chargers. It was yet another ugly football game for the Seattle’s offense, but solid play by the defense and a special teams TD secured the win for the Seahawks.
Though three games, Seattle has scored just one offensive touchdown. Two special teams scores and a pick-6 have masked just how poor the Seahawks have played on offense. They have a lot of work left to do to get ready for Week 1.
Here are my takeaways from Saturday’s win:
Tyler Lockett is the real deal
It feels like I’ve said this every week, but the Seahawks have found a special player in Tyler Lockett. The rookie is explosive, especially in the return game.
Lockett had a 103 yard kick return for a touchdown a couple of weeks ago. On Saturday he added a 67 yard punt for a TD. The return was well blocked, and Lockett made the rest look really easy.
Lockett hasn’t had a chance to show much on offense yet. The Seahawks are likely avoiding showing the plays they have that are designed to get him the ball in space until the regular season begins.
