Seattle Seahawks cuts starting to leak out – live blog (Updated!)
By Keith Myers
The first domino has fallen.
The Seattle Seahawks must cut 15 players before Tuesday at 1:00 pm local time. This morning we learned of the first player to not make squad.
The Seahawks selected Kevin Norwood in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He missed most of training camp with an injury that year, and struggled to get on the field.
The Seahawks had expected Norwood to take a major step forward this year, but it simply didn’t happen. Norwood had been clearly beat out by both Kasen Williams and Kevin Smith in training camp. He simply did not develop enough to hold off the talented players behind him.
Norwood may still get a chance elsewhere. He’s a physical receiver with good hands and he plays hard on special teams. Norwood’s problem has been his inability to get separation from defensive backs. He doesn’t have the speed to get get deep, and doesn’t have the quickness to consistently win underneath.
Norwood becomes the latest in a string of mid-round WR draft picks for the Seahawks that have been cut by the Seahawks before their 2nd season. This is clearly a bit of a blind spot for general manager John Schneider.
The Seahawks now have 14 other players that will be cut in the next 26 hours. We’ll update this space as more cuts are leaked out.
Update: It seems the initial report was inaccurate.
Norwood is still likely to be gone, but it isn’t official yet. The team will shop him, likely for an offensive lineman, and then cut him if they come up empty.

Norwood is headed to Carolina. He’s a great fit there actually. No word yet on what Seattle got in return.
