The best play from the Seahawks final preseason game

Before we begin the regular season let’s take a look back at the best play from the Seahawks final preseason game. The Seahawks hadn’t scored a touchdown with their first team offense in the previous three preseason games. The media would have you believe that it couldn’t be done.

Some who covered the game would have you to believe that the Seahawks would only score on Defense and Special Teams. Russell Wilson wasn’t worried, he reminded everyone that his offense was moving the ball just fine against the best defense in the league every day in practice.

When worrying a bout the offense, keep in mind that during a vast majority (all but three snaps I believe) of the preseason Marshawn Lynch was not in the game. Don’t forget that the passing game is notoriously one of the last pieces of the team to come together.

Fast forward to the final preseason game. A game in which many teams wouldn’t let their starters near the field for fear of injury.

After the Defense forces the Raiders to punt the Hawks get the ball. On the first play Christine Michael runs ahead for about a yard, this was not the best play of the game.

On the second play Russell Wilson is in the shotgun formation, play fakes to Michael, sits in the pocket for 2.29 seconds behind an offensive line that has had difficulty finding their stride all preseason.

Then he throws a strike to Tyler Lockett running a go route for a touchdown. Wilson was untouched on the play, Lockett was also untouched on the play. Lockett ran right past the defender who, playing man coverage could not catch up to the streaking Lockett.

This play proved to the rest of the world what many faithful readers of this blog knew already, the Seahawks are going to be fine on offense.

While it is interesting that we got an overhaul in the backfield in the last week, we will be ready for the Rams. Thanks to this play the national writers have no problem recognizing the Seahawks as one of the best teams in the league even tough we don’t have our starting sting safety in the lineup.
