Seattle Seahawks Inactives for Week 1 vs Rams
By Keith Myers
Gamed analysis of the Seahawks inactives, as well as those for the Rams.
It is game day! After a long training camp and preseason, the Seattle Seahawks are in St. Louis to take on the Rams. The game is a little over an hour away, which means it is time for both teams to announce which players will not be suiting up today.
While NFL rosters have 53 players, teams can only dress 46 for each game. That means that seven rostered player are in street clothes each week.
There are no surprises for the Seahawks. This list of inactive is as we expected it to be. We all knew that Mike Morgan was going to be unavailable because of a hamstring issue.
The same is true for Tharold Simon. He developed a toe injury at practice on Friday and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Pete Carroll did not sound optimistic on Friday that Simon would be able to play this week.
The Seahawks choosing not to dress Will Tukuafu isn’t a surprise either. His being inactive points to what a waste of a roster spot it is to have two FBs on the roster. Why keep two FBs if one isn’t even going to play?
Here are a Rams inactives:
Todd Gurley isn’t a surprise. He is not expected to play this season until at least week 3 as he recovers from his ACL injury last season.
No Tre Mason is a bit of a surprise. He’s dealing with a hamstring issue, but was expected to play in a limited role. With both him and Gurley on the shelf, that means that Benny Cunningham will be the main back for the Rams today.
