Seahawks vs 49ers: inactives and analysis

The Seattle Seahawks are in Santa Clara to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. We’re about 90 minutes away from kickoff, and that means that it is time for both teams to announce which players will not be available to play tonight.

Seahawks Inactives

The biggest news here are the names that are not on the list. Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner is back after missing the game on Sunday. The Seahawks will be very happy to see him on the field again.

Rookie defensive end Frank Clark is back as well. Clark was missed in the fourth quarter last week when the pass rushers were all exhausted. His return should help the Seahawks avoid another fourth quarter collapse.

Rookie cornerback Tye Smith is also back. He hasn’t played much this season, but his return gives the team crucial depth in the defensive secondary.

Jordan Hill is still out with his ankle injury. There is a good chance he’ll be back next week. Without Hill, The Seahawks remain paper thin at defensive tackle.

The same goes with Marcus Burley. Burley wanted to play this week, but the Seahawks decided to hold him out another week as he recovers from a broken thumb. Deshawn Shead will play in his spot as the nickel corner.

Having Kristjan Sokoli active over Mark Glowinski is a minor surprise. Neither has played this season, and aren’t likely to see the field this week either.

San Francisco Inactives

Carlos Hyde is playing. There are reports that he has a stress fracture in his foot. It remains to be seen how effective he will be.

Reggie Bush is back. He’s expected to return kicks and punts, but isn’t expected to play any running back. If he sees the field on offense, it’ll likely be as a slot receiver.

The lack of Hayne in uniform for the 49ers tonight means that Australians everywhere have already changed the channel.
