Seahawks at Cowboys: Inactives and Analysis

The Seattle Seahawks are on the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys. We’re about 90 minuted from kickoff, and that means that both teams are required to announce their active rosters for the game.

All teams must pick seven players and declare them inactive for each game. This is done to level the playing field in case of injuries. The league does not want a team with 53 healthy players to have a major advantage over a team with just 45 healthy players.

Seahawks Inactives

Most of the interesting names for the Seahawks are the names that are not on the list. Jordan Hill is back and will play. He’s been dealing with a quadriceps injury for a while now, but is finally healthy enough to play.

The same goes for cornerback Marcus Burley. He’s been out for a month after breaking his thumb. He’s back again, and should return to the lineup as the team’s nickel corner.

The big news here is that Russell Okung is inactive. There was a lot of concern on Friday when he was listed as doubtful. The Seahawks later issued a correction and switched him to questionable. Turns out that he won’t play. Alvin Bailey will take his spot in the starting lineup.

Wide receiver Paul Richardson was not activated off the PUP list. That means he is not on the roster and cannot play. Since he is not on the roster, he isn’t listed as being inactive, but he still cannot play.

Cowboys Inactives

As expected, wide receiver Dez Bryant is active and will play. The Seahawks have been planning all week for Bryant to play. Richard Sherman will have the responsibility of shutting down Bryant, and is expected to follow him no matter where Bryant lines up.

RB Joseph Randle is out with a back injury. Darren McFadden will get the bulk of the carries this week, but former Seahawk Christine Michael will get significant carries as well.
