NFL Odds Week 12: Seahawks favorites to win over Steelers
By Keith Myers
The NFL odds-makers in Vegas think the Seahawks will get over .500 for the first time this season with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Seattle Seahawks host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in a game that has tremendous importance for both teams. Both are currently in second place in their division and fighting to get into the playoffs.
According to Vegas Insider, the Seahawks are currently four point favorites. That is a lot of faith in a Seattle team that has already lost three home games this season.
Seattle opened as 3.5 point favorites. While that is more than the standard three-point bump given to teams for playing at home, it isn’t by much. This suggests that the Vegas oddsmakers believe Seattle will win, but they aren’t particularly confident in that belief.
The line has shifted slightly in Seattle’s favor because the majority of the money being placed on the game has been on the Seahawks. It will be interesting to see if the line shifts further before kickoff on Sunday.
It is a bit surprising that the public is supporting the Seahawks so heavily given the news about Marshawn Lynch. While there hasn’t been any official word yet, NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reported that Lynch is expected to miss the rest of the season because of a sports hernia.
Luckily, the Seahawks appear to have struck gold with Thomas Rawls. The team should be fine with Rawls carrying the load load for Seattle’s offense.
