We’ve seen two outstanding performances from rookie RB Thomas Rawls while subbing for an injured Marshawn Lynch. With Lynch now out at least another month after abdominal surgery, Rawls will be asked to step up again.

But here’s the tough news; the Steelers are currently 5th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game (93) and tied for 5th in yards per carry allowed (3.8). Conversely, they’re 28th in passing yards per game (278.4). But despite recent improvement in pass protection by the embattled offense line, the Seahawks offense is clearly more effective when the running game is productive. Coordinator Darrell Bevell can’t give up on the run Sunday. Even if it’s not there early, Rawls will get opportunities to carry the ball. His effectiveness could be the single most important key.
