Seahawks vs Steelers: 5 takeaways from Seattle’s huge win
By Keith Myers
The Seattle Seahawks took care of business against the Steelers, but there are still reasons to be concerned.
The Seattle Seahawks finally held on to a fourth quarter lead against a good team. In doing so they were able to beat a good Pittsburgh Steelers team, and keep themselves in the playoff hunt.
In fact, with both Atlanta and Tampa Bay losing, the Seahawks move up into the 6th spot in the NFC standings. There is still a lot of work left to do, but the Seahawks now control their own playoff destiny.
Here are my 5 takeaways from today’s huge win.
1. Jeremy Lane is a difference maker on special teams
In his first game since breaking his arm and tearing his ACL in the Super Bowl, it was easy to see the importance of Jeremy Lane on Seattle’s special teams.
Lane downed each of Jon Ryan’s first two punts inside the 15 yard line. He also read the fake FG perfectly, intercepting the pass setting up a Seahawks touchdown.
Lane will work his way into the rotation on defense. Until then, he’ll still make a major difference for the Seahawks
