Seahawks vs Steelers: Inactives and roster analysis

The Seattle Seahawks will have Bruce Irvin against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but are still missing many key players.

We are minutes away from kickoff between the Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The rosters are set, and we know which players are inactive for today’s game.

Typically these things are fairly predictable, but not this week. The Seahawks have a few surprises, both in terms of players who are available and those who are not.

Seahawks inactives

The biggest surprise here is that Bruce Irvin is active and will play. He is warming up with the backups, which seems to indicate that he will be available in a limited role. Mike Morgan is warming up with starters. The other name on here that jumps out is CB Cary Williams. He has been the starter all season, but was benched last week after a month of poor performance. Jeremy Lane, Marcus Burley and DeShawn Shead will all see playing time today at CB.  Marshawn Lynch and Paul Richardson are both out as well, but that has been known all week. Neither is expected back for a few weeks.    The Seahawks are fairly banged up along the offensive line, so there was a chance that they could keep an extra offensive linemen this week, but that didn’t happen.

Steelers inactives

No surprises here for Pittsburgh. They are coming off their bye week and thus are mostly healthy. That means that guys like Mike Vick are buried on the bench and won’t even be in uniform.  The one player whose status was unknown was linebacker Ryan Shazier. He was listed as questionable, but it active and will play.
