JOE PHILBIN – Former Miami Dolphins head coach

Prior and Bevell have similarities in their background. Prior to getting the head job in Miami, Philbin was a longtime offensive assistant in Green Bay, and served as OC from 2007-2011. His tenure with the Packers overlapped Bevell’s from 2003-2005.

His offenses struggled in Miami as they attempted to break in and develop Ryan Tannehill at QB, but they improved in 2014, ranking 11th in points and 14th in yards gained.

During his time as OC in Green Bay (with a significantly better QB than Tannehill) Philbin’s offenses were consistently in the top five in scoring and yards. He was an uninspiring choice as a head coach (made painfully evident for all to see on the Dolphins season on Hard Knocks) but he may be a solid candidate for team’s looking for a coordinator this off season.
