Report: Marshawn Lynch not on bus to airport with Seahawks
By Keith Myers
Marshawn Lynch was not on the team bus to the airport tonight, at least according to one report.
According to a report from Katie Cotterill from the Seattle Times, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch did not take the team bus to the airport today. No media outlets have any additional news regarding Lynch’s status.
Lynch was a full participant in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable on the injury report. That suggests that he will play on Sunday. Until this report from Cotterill, there’s been no reason to think he wouldn’t be getting the bulk of the carries this weekend.
There are three potential explanations for Lynch not traveling with the team.
- He was ruled out for this game after the injury report was released
- He simply was late and missed the bus
- There was a known schedule conflict of some kind, and he will meet the team at their the airport or in Minnesota
The first one would be unfortunate. That would suggest that he’s had some sort of setback, and puts his availability for the remainder of the playoffs in jeopardy.
If Lynch simply missed the bus, it would be completely out of character for him. He’s a unique guy, but he’s never been irresponsible.
In that case, it is possible that there would be some sort of discipline from the team. Usually it would mean being benched for part of a game. Being that this is the playoffs and likely Lynch’s last season in Seattle, that may not apply here.
Due to the lack of any concrete report from an insider like Jay Glazer or Ian Rapoport, I’m leaning toward the third option being what we’re dealing with. If there had been a major development, someone would have reported on it.
Ultimately, we may not know anything until Pete Carroll talks to the media tomorrow. Unless the the team puts out a statement, we’re all in the dark on this one.
I think we can all agree that hopefully this is much ado about nothing.
