Seahawks have 26th pick in the NFL Draft

The NFL Draft order is set for all but four teams. The Seattle Seahawks currently have the 26th pick.
While it is hard to believe that the Seattle Seahawks season is over, the offseason is officially here. Currently there is almost nothing but questions that need answered between now and the start of the 2016 league year.
There is one thing that we know though. Seattle’s loss on Sunday provides us with their position for this year’s NFL Draft. The Seahawks currently have the 26th pick.
Of course these are John Schneider’s Seahawks, so the likelihood of Seattle actually picking in that spot is extremely small. Schneider loves to trade down and pick up additional draft picks.
The Seahawks have not selected a player in the first round for three straight seasons. If they trade down again this year, it’ll make it fairly obvious that Schneider doesn’t value picking in the first round nearly as much as the rest of the league.
In 2013, the Seahawks traded their top pick for Percy Harvin. That clearly didn’t work out as well as expected, but a Super Bowl win sure eases the pain.
In 2014, the Seahawks trading down into the top of the second round before selecting Paul Richardson. They had the 32nd pick that year, and the Vikings traded up to get Teddy Bridgewater.
Last year the Seahawks traded their pick for Jimmy Graham. That traded didn’t exactly work out as expected either, but only because of injury. Graham played well until he tore his patellar tendon. Hopefully he’ll be ready to return next season.
The last player the Seahawks picked in round 1 was Bruce Irvin. That was the 2012 Seattle draft class that a pundits hated, but launched the Seahawks into being one of the elite teams in the NFL.
We’ve only got three months worth of speculating before we find out what the Seahawks will do in the draft this year.
