NFL First Round Mock Draft, Seahawks get defensive
By Dan Viens
Pick #19: Buffalo Bills – Jonathan Bullard, DE, Florida
Rex Ryan will likely bid farewell to Mario Williams in the coming weeks, as Williams production (and effort level) no longer match his massive salary. Bullard is just the type of player Ryan may covet to slide right into Williams spot.
Bullard is built like a prototype 3-4 defensive end at 6’3″ 283 pounds and he’s all about power at the point of attack. He’s quick to get his arms extended so he can hold and control would-be blockers, and then outstanding at reading the play and shedding the block to the proper side. He pursues well down the line and chases runners far downfield.
He can control two gaps, and typically sticks to his proper assignment. Known more for being a run-stuffer, he appears to have the burst to continue to develop as a pass rusher. At Florida he moved all around the line, playing tackle and end at times, but will likely only play outside in Ryan’s scheme.
