Pick #30: Carolina Panthers – Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame

Coming off their Super Bowl loss one thing was evident about the Panthers, despite Cam Newton’s MVP 2015 performance, they team still severely lacks offensive weapons. Getting rookie sensation WR Kelvin Benjamin back from injury will help, but Benjamin is more of a big, possession and red zone-type target. What Newton needs is someone to stretch the field and make big plays (and unlike Ted Ginn Jr., someone who will actually catch the ball).

Fuller is the most explosive receiver in this draft. He’s a dangerous deep threat due to his elite speed, and he possesses that extra, top-end gear that helps him separate from DB’s. He’s a smooth and fluid athlete but reaches top speed quickly.

As a receiver, he has excellent hands and does well going up and getting 50/50 balls. Whether he can roam the middle of the field and make tough catches in traffic is a question, but that’s not what the Panthers need him to do.

In 29 career starts at Notre Dame, Fuller scored 30 TD’s. THAT is what the Panthers need him for.
