Pick #6: Baltimore Ravens – Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss

Say what you want about the Perfect Storm of injuries that devastated the Ravens in 2015, but even before they turned into a M*A*S*H unit one thing was obvious; Baltimore needs more weapons for Joe Flacco. Old man Steve Smith was about the only highlight of the Ravens passing game before he went down with a season-ending Achilles injury. It may seem out of character for Baltimore General Manager Ozzie Newsome to go for a wideout this early, but elite, impact skill position players on offense are not a strength of the top part of this years draft, and Treadwell is a potential superstar.

A five star recruit coming out of high school, Treadwell caught 202 passes for 2,393 yards and 21 TD’s, and broke nearly all of the school’s receiving records in the process. At 6’2″ he carries 210 pounds on his solid, muscular frame. He lacks elite speed and will have to learn how to run routes with more precision at the next level, but has been compared to Dez Bryant due to his outstanding hands, ability to go up and win on 50/50 balls, and the intensity with which he approaches a game. Unlike Bryant, however, Treadwell is known for being a positive team leader. Just another quality that will likely attract Newsome to this potential super star.
