The Seattle Seahawks ongoing search for a big-bodied wide receiver should continue this off season, despite repeated failed attempts.

Pete Carroll likes big wide receivers. We know this from his time at USC (Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett etc.) and from his repeated attempts to mine any source possible in his continued search to add one to the Seahawks arsenal. During his tenure the Seahawks have tried the CFL (Chris Matthews), the Arena League (Douglas McNeil) and even a short-lived reunion with former Trojan Williams.

More from Seattle Seahawks News

That appeared to be a match, with the 6’5″ Williams proving to be a huge asset for then-QB Matt Hasselbeck in 2010, hauling in 65 catches for 751 yards and earning a contract extension in the process. Sadly, Williams would then revert to his old ways and once again eat himself out of the league just one season later.

We were teased again by Matthews’ potential after his 4 catch, 109 yard, one TD performance in last year’s Super Bowl. But Matthews never worked hard enough or showed enough improvement in his route running and was ultimately released midway through the 2015 season.

Carroll has spoken openly about his desire to add a big target to Russell Wilson’s red zone tool belt, and thought he had taken a step towards doing so with the trade last off season for 6’7″ TE Jimmy Graham. But Graham is now trying to work his way back from a major knee injury. As a result, the Seahawks are looking at entering training camps with their top two receivers , Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett, both measuring in at 5’11” (and that might be generous).

The Hawks recently added 6’4″ CFL veteran Jeff Fuller, Ryan Tannehill’s prolific pass-catching favorite at Texas A&M. But Fuller, while talented, has never proven he can stay healthy. Could he finally turn that around and make the roster as the red zone target Seattle really wants? Sure. Can we count on it? Hell no.

Reportedly, the Seahawks have scouted “every big WR out there” this draft cycle. But taking a look at NFLDrafScout.com’s draft prospect rankings, only one receiver over 6’3″ is projected to be drafted. It’s simply not the best year to be finding your big target in the draft.

So where does Seattle turn? There are options. Most of them are long shots, but who loves long shots more than the Seahawks do?

Here are Five WR’s who could make the Seahawks roster. For the sake of narrowing the field, we look at only those who are 6’4″ or taller, with one exception………
