3-17 (80th overall, from BUF): Paul Perkins, RB, UCLA

I am beginning to have doubts that he’ll last this long based on increased buzz as the combine nears, but Perkins would be a great fit as the 3rd down running back Seattle covets. I think it’s very likely they’ll draft a running back to compete with Christine Michael while Rawls heals and to fill the 3rd down role vacated by Fred Jackson.

The ideal Seattle running back checks in at under 6’ tall and just over 200 pounds so it will be interesting to see if Perkins meets these metrics – he looks a little less than 200 on film. Regardless, Perkins has unreal change of direction ability and excellent vision through the line.

Watching tape of him run is really fun because he is often able to create something out of nothing. He is a good pass catcher and proficient in pass protection so I think he would fit perfectly as Seattle’s 3rd down running back.

3-Comp (~98th overall): Le’Raven Clark, OT, Texas Tech

The first real project…the Tom Cable special. Clark checks all of the athletic boxes of an elite NFL left tackle. He’s 6’5” and 315 pounds with insanely long arms.

At his best, he’s got incredibly quick feet, excellent balance, and strong upper body to control both speed and power rushers. Unfortunately, he is often a technical mess and finds himself out of position or leaning over his legs resulting in rushers getting around the outside.

Those in favor of Clark will point to his life in a spread offense without competent coaching and believe his natural talent can be unlocked. Those against will see Clark as just another athletic marvel that can’t actually play football. Sounds like a Tom Cable special to me.
