Sixth Round

6-10 (~150th overall, from CHI): James Bradberry, CB, Samford

Since the John Schnieder reign began, Seattle has selected a defensive back in the 5th or 6th round of every draft. Each one of them has had 32 inch arms, or longer. So, until the combine measurements are out I only have the Shrine and Senior Bowl participants to work with.  Enter James Bradberry from Samford.

Bradberry appears to have the physical tools required of a Seahawk cornerback and he did acquit himself well at Senior Bowl practices when learning press coverage techniques.

In the limited film (vs Central Arkansas) I could find he played sticky man coverage, displayed adequate ball awareness in flight, and tackled strongly…but it was admittedly against sub-NFL talent. In reality Seattle usually “redshirts” their late round defensive backs for a year anyway so potential likely wins over technical skill for this selection.

60-Comp (~174 overall): Travis Feeney, LB, UW

As a 6’3” 225lb linebacker, Feeney falls in the “tweener” category which is often where the best upside draft picks can be found. Many teams will overlook these types of players due to their lack of a clearly defined position.

At worst, Feeney’s size, speed, and experience on special teams can earn himself a career as a special teamer. At best, Seattle could parlay those skills and his natural competitiveness into a SAM linebacker role or maybe a conversion to strong safety.
