Free Agency day 3: Jon Ryan returns, new LT?

The Seattle Seahawks are still combing through free agency for a left tackle, but at least they got their punter locked up with a new contract.

The GingaNinja returns

The Seahawks have officially brought back punter Jon Ryan with a four-year contract.

This is obviously a great move by the Seahawks. Punters might not move the needle in terms of excitement, but the Seahawks needed Ryan back.

Ryan’s deal is for four years and $10 million. His $2.5 million AYP makes him the 12th highest paid punter in the NFL.

Seahawks looking into LT options

With Russell Okung in New York to visit the Giants today, and with visits planned to Detroit and Santa Clara over the weekend, the Seahawks have moved on begun looking at their other options.

First up with be former Pittsburgh Steeler Kelvin Beachum, who will visit Seattle on Monday. The 26 year old took over as the starter back in 2013. He then started all 16 games in 2014.

Beachum played in just six games last season. He tore his ACL on October 18th against Arizona, ending his season. That is also why the young talented LT is still available.

The backup plan if they cannot sign Beachum would be Donald Penn. The former Oakland Raider is 32, which is older than the Seahawks typically look at when signing free agents.

Penn wouldn’t be seen as a long-term player. If the Seahawks bring him in, it’ll be as a bridge. They would then still use a high draft pick on the position and groom them to take over in a year or two.

Russell Wilson is no longer on the market. He and girlfriend Ciara have agree to terms on a long-term deal. Compensation is believed to have been the biggest f-ing diamond most of us will ever see.

Sorry ladies, Russell is no longer a free agent.
