Report: Marshawn Lynch un-retires, headed to Raiders

According to a report, Marshawn Lynch is un-retiring, and the Seattle Seahawks are trading his rights to the Oakland Raiders.

There has been a lot of confusion around the league as to why the Seattle  Seahawks haven’t moved Marshawn Lynch onto the reserve/retired list. It has been widely speculated that the team didn’t believe that Lynch would stay retired; it turns out they were correct.

According to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Silver, Lynch does want to play again. He also wants to play in his hometown of Oakland, and the Seahawks have graciously agreed to help make that happen. Of course, getting a draft pick back for Lynch certainly helped.

With Latavius Murray already on the roster, the Lynch’s fit in Oakland is unclear. He almost certainly will have to accept a lesser role, and a lesser salary, to make this work. The holdup on making this trade official appears Oakland and Lynch finalizing the details on his new contract.

When reached for comment, Lynch responded in typical Lynch fashion:

""

Pete Carroll chose his words carefully when discussing the situation. When asked if the reports were true, Carroll simply responded “Yeah.” When asked if there was any attempt to talk Lynch into playing again for Seattle next season, Carroll again answered with one word: “Nope.”

When pressed further for comment, Carroll made it clear that he didn’t want to discuss Lynch any further, saying “Look, I’m just here so I don’t get fined.”

The Raiders still have not commented on the trade, but are expected to do so once the deal becomes official.

At this time, we still do not know what the draft pick compensation for Lynch is going to be. What we do know is that this entire story is a fabrication, and proof that the author has too much free time. Happy April Fools day everyone!
