A Seattle Seahawks mock draft that looks at the scenario where the team decides not to address the offensive line until the very end of the third round.

Everyone knows that the offensive line is the Achille’s heal of the Seattle Seahawks right now. The expectation is that they’re going to go after fixing it in a big way in the draft. But what if they don’t?

I decided to try some completely different for this mock draft: no offensive line picks until at least the compensatory pick at the end of the third round. I wanted to see if it was possible to adequately fix the offensive line without using one of the teams top 3 picks to do so.

For this draft, I used the draft simulator at first-pick.com. I like this particular simulator for the way it handles trades. There ended up with 3 trades for the Seahawks in this particular draft.

Round 1

In round 1, the Seahawks traded back not once, but twice. The first trade moved them back to pick 31 in a trade with Carolina and getting them a forth-round pick in return. The compensation was on the low side, but with all of the targets I had in mind still available, it was better to get the extra pick anyways.

The second trade was with Cleveland, and moved Seattle completely out of the first round. The Seahawks were able to get much better value in this second trade, picking up both a 4th and 5th round selections.

So Seattle headed home after the first day of the draft with no new players, but a total of 12 draft picks still to come.
