JOE THUNEY, OL, North Carolina State

Of all the names we hear attached to the Seahawks as possible offensive line draftees, I have yet to hear Thuney’s.

Maybe we should.

Let’s consider the list of traits Tom Cable and the Seahawks like in their offensive line prospects:

  • Versatility check, Thuney played guard and tackle for NC State, on both sides of the line.
  • Athleticismcheck, Thuney ran a 4.93 40 at the scouting combine, with a 28.5″ vertical, a 9’1″ broad jump and 28 reps on the bench.
  • Smart – check, Thuney scored a 39 on his Wonderlic test at the combine (that’s a HIGH score) and graduated Cum Laude.

And there’s one other thing; Thuney projects best as a guard in a zone blocking scheme. Check!
