Seventh Round

7-4 (225th overall, from DAL): DJ Hunter, FS, Marshall

Hunter, a VMAC visitor, is an incredible athlete that is kind of a man without a clear position in the NFL. At 5-11 and 205 pounds Hunter ran a 4.38 40, jumped nearly 40” in the vertical, and nearly 11 feet in the broad jump.

He’s extremely quick both laterally and in a straight line and plays with a controlled aggressiveness that coaches will love. Even if he can’t find playing time as a safety or hybrid safety/linebacker he certainly projects as a potential special teams ace with that kind of athleticism.

Alternate: Darius Jackson, RB, Eastern Michigan.

The 6’ 220 pound running back tested off the charts at his pro day resulting in a 2.3 sigma SPARQ score, which is pretty ridiculous. Seattle demonstrated their love of SPARQy runners when they scooped Christine Michael in the second round a few years ago. Jackson only had one year of decent college production so he’s a relative unknown, but maybe he’s got some of the same Michigan magic as Thomas Rawls.

7-26 (247th overall): George Fant, OT/TE, Western Kentucky

An athletic former TE recently, Fant would convert to offensive tackle for Seattle similar to what they did with another former tight end, Garry Gilliam. Fant is a recent VMAC visitor.

Alternate: Dalyn Williams, QB, Dartmouth

Dalyn Williams looks a lot like Russell Wilson when you watch him play. Did you see that deep ball accuracy? He’s more likely an UDFA but I put him here just to get his name out there. I guess the question would be whether Seattle would want a lesser version of Wilson for a backup or someone with slightly different skill lset?
