Seahawks Draft Clues from Pete Carroll
By Keith Myers
These are random videos posted by Pete Carroll, and he’s calling them “Seahawks Draft Clues.” Can you help us decipher the code?
This is a yearly tradition. Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll posts seemingly random videos to twitter as “clues” to who the team is looking to draft. It always seems random and one of those “just for fun” things, but then Jared Stanger over a Field Gulls seemingly cracked the code two years ago.
Last year Carroll mostly skipped the tradition after calling out Stranger for his expert sleuthing. Now the draft clues are back. Cracking this code won’t be easy. I’m sure Pete Carroll has mixed things up as to make sure he’s not giving too much away.
I’ll post them here as they come out. Hopefully everyone can help me figure out what they mean.
Clue 1
hmmm… 82? That’s a receiver’s number. Also he talks about changing jobs so perhaps TJ Greene moving from S to CB?
He also talks about being the first black president. Obama is from Chicago, Illinois. Perhaps it is a reference to… ummm.. there aren’t any top prospects from Illinois. Maybe it is a player that was from Illinois but went to a school elsewhere? Or perhaps a Hawaii native?
Ya, I’ve got nothing useful you add. I’m going to need some help here, obviously.
I’ll post the other clues as he released them.
Clue 2
It took three hours, but Pete Carroll has finally given us the 2nd Seahawks draft clue.
There’s a lot here to break down: the Mike Singletary eyes, the rose bowl, a temper, a foot injury… yep, a lot to unpack.
Then there’s the “I don’t know how to feed myself” line. That can’t possibly be able Eli Apple and the anonymous scout’s problems with his inability to cook, can it?
Come on everyone, help me out here!
Clue 3
The draft is set to begin in just a couple minutes, and Carroll dropped the third hint:
Rodney Dangerfield’s joke are so classic. This is the “fat and ugly” bit, but he’s sitting on the couch instead of holding a mic. Same material though. Pete has to be talking about about either O-line or a DT here. The question is, which one?
They’re talking about the movie Easy Money. My first thought was “the big easy,” so i started looking for a DT prospect from Louisiana. Vernon Butler is from Louisiana Tech. Yep… makes sense.
It can’t be that easy, can it?

If you think you have any of the picks figured out, post it below along with your thought process for why you think it fits the clue.
