The Seattle Seahawks selected Notre Dame running back C.J. Prosise with the 90th pick in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft.

Seahawks fans appeared to be happy following the selection of C.J. Prosise, as he looks to have a lot of potential and will bring immediate competition to the running back position.

HOW HE FITS:

Prosise should be a nice fit as the Seahawks 3rd down running back right from day one.  There is potential for him to develop into an every down back, but for now with Rawls and Michael on the roster his best role will be on third down.

CBS Sports had him ranked as the 4th best running back and the 67th overall player in the NFL draft.

Here is a nice overview of Prosise on his nfl.com draft profile:

"“Ascending running back prospect with the physical build to handle a workload, the athleticism to create for himself and the hands to keep stacking total yardage up. While Prosise has the acceleration and play strength to fit into an NFL offense, he needs to become a shade more decisive and has to improve in protections if he is to become a three-down option. Prosise looks like an immediate “committee” runner with future starter potential.”"

Prosise’s NFL comparison on nfl.com was Fred Jackson, which is interesting.  If he can play a role like Jackson did last season then he will prove to be a huge addition to the Seahawks.

His main weakness is that he is still raw and learning the running back position.  He was first recruited as a safety and then moved to WR.  Having only played the running back position for 1 year, his inexperience may work against him as a rookie.  Prosise also needs to work on holding onto the football, as he has fumbled five times in 156 carries.

Adding a running back was a priority for the Seahawks and being able to add C.J. Prosise looks to be a great find for both value and need.  He will come in right away and replace Fred Jackson as the third down running back and also add to the competition with Rawls and Michael.  Look for Prosise’s improvement to be drastic in his first year on the Seattle Seahawks.
