Seahawks roster battle: offensive line
By David Stobbe
Center:
Starter: Patrick Lewis
Lewis is one of the most underrated players on the Seattle Seahawks’ roster, and when he replaced Drew Nowak last season the offensive line finally started to click. Lewis is a good player and will make the team this season, but the Seahawks likely will be looking elsewhere for a long term solution at center.
Backup: Joey Hunt
Hunt could be that long term solution at center, and is also a dark horse candidate to win the starting spot. Hunt was drafted in the 6th round of the draft and is an intelligent player with great pass protection skills. He is a bit undersized, though, and should start out as a backup during the 2016 season.
Roster Cut: Will Pericak
Tom Cable seems to really like Pericak and this decision will be a tough call for the Seahawks’ coaches. Pericak is a defensive line convert and is still learning the position, so it would be best to keep him on the practice squad this season. He has a lot of potential, and could be a player that gets his big shot during the 2017 season.
