Tharold Simon, CB

When Simon was taken in the 5th round of the 2013 draft, he looked like a textbook Seahawk corner back. tall (6’2″) and long, and oozing with potential.

Two preseasons ago, he looked the part too, making big plays all over the place.

But Simon has three things working against him:

  1. He’s seemingly always hurt. Betting on Simon to play all 16 games would be like setting you money on fire.
  2. Seattle has a number of talented young CB’s. Jeremy Lane was just given a substantial contract to remain long-term, and last year’s 5th round pick Tye Smith has flashed. And as far as young projects go, UDFA’s Trovon Reed and DeAndre Elliot may have as much potential as Simon.
  3. That Super Bowl. Ugh. Can any of us ever shake the image of Julian Edelman turning Simon around like he was under hypnosis?

This will be a make-or-break camp for Simon. He needs to show from the very first practice that he’s healthy and effective, or else the Seahawks will make Simon say goodbye.

Sorry……it was too easy.
