5 Takeaways from the Seahawks preseason win
By Dan Viens
THE SEAHAWKS KICKING GAME IS IN REALLY GOOD HAN, ER…….FEET:
Marriage, and a new contract, seem to agree with Jon Ryan. His first two punts went for over 60 yards, and he ended up averaging 44.8 yards on 5 kicks, with 3 of those pinning the Chiefs inside the 20. He’s good.
He also held for placekicker Steven Hauschka, per usual, and saw all three of Hauschka’s field goal attempts split the uprights. His longest was good from 52 yards.
Don’t underestimate the importance of how solid these guys are.
Also, rookie long-snapper Nolan Frese was excellent, with perfect placement on all of his attempts.

Sure, it’s “just preseason,” and there are areas of today’s game that are cause for concern. But winning on the road against a good team is always preferable to the alternative. Week #2 will be even more interesting, to see if the offensive line, and players like Boykin and Marsh can now build on what we saw today in Kansas City.
