DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD (10):

  • Richard Sherman, CB
  • DeShawn Shead, CB
  • Jeremy Lane, CB
  • Marcus Burley, CB
  • Tharold Simon, CB
  • Tye Smith, CB
  • Kam Chancellor, S
  • Earl Thomas, S
  • Kelcie McCray, S
  • Brandon Browner, S

Despite the presence of some intriguing younger players in camp, the Hawks go with experience here. Simon looks like he’s finally read to deliver on his vast potential, looking good (and healthy) so far in camp. Burley makes the cut because of his ability to play the slot, and Tye Smith has improved greatly after struggling as a rookie.

Browner is the wild card. Brought back to play a hybrid safety/OLB role, he needs to have a good camp to convince coaches the experiment will work.
