THE BACKUP QB BATTLE:

It’s former TCU star Trevone Boykin against Washington state born and bred Jake Heaps. Boykin is considered the favorite to be Russell Wilson’s backup, but Pete Carroll made a point of telling reporters last week that Heaps was “lighting it up” in practices.

Russell Wilson isn’t expected to play much, if at all, in this game. That leaves the majority of snaps for Boykin and Heaps. If Boykin has a great game he could all but clinch the spot.

If both players struggle, the Seahawks may ramp up efforts to acquire another quarterback.
