Seahawks: Updated 53-man roster projection
By Keith Myers
Defense (26)
Defensive Line (10)
Michael Bennett, Jarran Reed, Cliff Avril, Ahtyba, Rubin, Frank Clark, Brandin Bryant, Cassius Marsh, Quinton Jefferson, Ryan Robinson, Tony McDaniel
This one was really tough. Dropping Jordan Hill off this list was tough to do, but the guy simply cannot stay healthy. With Bryant continuing to impress, Hill became expendable.
The other difficult decision was keeping Robinson over Tony McDaniel. Ultimately, I ended up deciding to keep both. That decision meant there would be no true FB, but with 4 TE, I think it’ll work out.
Linebacker (6)
Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, Eric Pinkins, Brock Coyle, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Mike Morgan
No surprises here, as all of these names should be very familiar by now. The only thing left to be determined is if Pinkins, Morgan, or DE Cassius Marsh will start on the strong side.
Defensive Back (10)
Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Jeremy Lane, Deshawn Shead, Kelcie McCray, Brandon Browner, Tyvis Powell, Tye Smith, Tharold Simon
No surprises here, and no changes from my last roster projection. The position group seems set, though Marcus Burley could sneak onto the roster if one of the other CBs plays poorly over the final 3 preseason games.
Next: Is this the most talent offense Seattle has ever had?
Specialists (3)
K: Steven Hauschka
P: Jon Ryan
LS: Nolan Frese
There’s no competitions here. They are the only guys on the roster.
