Exploring Seahawks possible alternatives to Trevone Boykin
By Dan Viens
E.J. MANUEL, BALTIMORE
The Bills may be ready to part ways with their former first round draft pick if they feel rookie draftee Cardale Jones is worth keeping on the 53 man roster. In their final preseason game, Jones attempted 26 passes to only 5 for Manuel. He was widely shopped last year after the team acquired starter Tyrod Taylor. If Manuel was released, I would think there would be interest from the Seahawks.
JOSH JOHNSON, BALTIMORE
I feel like this guy has made some sort of could-be-a-Seahawk-backup-option list every one of his seven years in the league. Always good enough to get a look, he’s never quite stuck at one stop for very long. He’s been with 9 teams, appearing in 29 regular season games over that span. He completed 18 of 24 passes in the Ravens 4th preseason game for 181 yards.
But the Ravens also have Ryan Mallett to backup Joe Flacco. Johnson will likely be available……again.
There could also be a surprise name or two that pops up, as more teams these days are electing to only carry 2 quarterbacks on their final 53.

Or it could be that the Seahawks have already decided to roll the dice and stick with Boykin. They elected to let soon-to-be-cut Jake Heaps play much of the second half. Boykin may just already have his spot locked up.
