THAROLD SIMON, CB

This was supposed to be Simon’s breakout camp. He was as healthy as he’s been since arriving in 2013 and poised to cash in on the potential that once prompted Richard Sherman to say he had the ability “to be better than me someday.”

Not gonna happen.

Simon was mostly terrible this preseason, either failing in coverage or committing a penalty any time the ball was thrown his way. Yes he looks the part of “long Seahawk CB” but lacks the instincts necessary to succeed at the position. Likely makes the team, but barely.

GRADE: F

FRANK CLARK, DE

Much is expected of Clark this year after a promising rookie year and an offseason of hype, but he was mostly invisible during his time on the field.

It’s possible the team was holding back, not wanting to show the role he’ll be used in. He spent last year flipping between DE and DT, and was even mentioned as part of the OLB mix this year after the departure of Bruce Irvin. He almost played DE exclusively, however, and failed to put many great moments on tape.

Maybe that’s a good thing. Let’s hope he can flip the switch in a week.
