The Seattle Seahawks Injury Report has been released. Fans are nervous, and there is adequate reason to be so.

Lets not pretend. 12s across the country cringed when they saw this week’s injury report. Some names were expected and not a surprise, but others filled us with dread. A deep foreboding that we haven’t felt in a long time. We’ve gotten spoiled with the depth and resilience of the Seahawks. That will be tested this Sunday.

Lets start with the names we expected. Running back Thomas Rawls is still recovering from a broken fibula, but is expected to return in the next few weeks. Tight end Luke Willson, although supposedly having a semi miraculous recovery from knee surgery, didn’t practice this week.

Tackle Bradley Sowell was injured in last week’s game is a game time decision. Head coach Pete Carroll said they plan to have him warm up on game day and see how he does.

There was hope that linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis would be ready to play this week. KPL has an ankle injury that kept him out of the Arizona game and it looks to keep him sidelined this week.

This is where the expected names stopped.

Tyler Lockett, wide receiver and special teams god, has been nursing a knee injury. He has played the last few weeks but its obvious to most that he still isn’t quite right. Now there seems to be a thigh issue he is dealing with and is questionable for Sunday.

Earlier in the week, Carroll had mentioned he hoped safety Kam Chancellor would be ready for this week. Now it seems the groin injury is more severe than originally thought and it will be week to week for Chancellor. Not great news.

It was bad news to hear defensive end Michael Bennett is officially out for this week’s game. The bad BAD news was that there is a chance Bennett will need surgery on his knee. Carroll said they will know more on Monday, but it didn’t sound good.

There is a silver lining to this week’s report. According to Carroll, Russell Wilson is looking good to go. Wilson, who has had 2 injuries already this season, added a pectoral injury to that list this week. Carroll said Wilson has thrown during practice and looks fine.
