The Seahawks beat the Patriots 31-24 on the road Sunday making a statement and thus began their run towards championship aspirations.

The Seahawks made quite a statement Sunday night as the team notched a massive 31-24  road win over the New England Patriots. Few people predicted the Seahawks going to New England and picking up a win, including myself. I had that game tallied as a loss since the NFL released the schedule last Spring. That thought was further solidified after the Patriots had absolutely dismantled every team in their path since the return of American folklore legend, Tom Brady in week 5.

Yes, almost everyone thought a Patriots victory at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night was a forgone conclusion. That is, everyone except for those standing on the Seahawks sideline. This team never seems to flinch, and Sunday was no exception.

The Seahawks had a counter to every punch the Patriots threw. Every time it felt like New England was going to take control of the game, the Hawks found a way to seize momentum back. Whether it was the defense forcing turnovers at just the right time, or the offense making plays when it counted; the Seahawks played their most complete game of the season on Sunday.

The game ended in fitting fashion with the Seahawks holding on a goal line stand capped with a physical battle between Patriots Tight End, Rob Gronkowski and Seahawks Safety Kam Chancellor. The play ultimately ended in an incompletion ( if anything the officials could’ve called offensive pass interference ) and the Seahawks held on for a huge win.

This game was impressive any way you slice it. New England was on a tear and coming off a bye, and Seattle came in on short rest from a taxing Monday Night game. They flew cross country and had to face a team that rarely loses at home. All the cards were stacked against the Seahawks, yet they didn’t make excuses. This team proved they are once again of a championship pedigree.

If nothing else, Sunday’s win was a statement to the rest of the league. The Seahawks are back. Not only are they back, but they have the opportunity to be better than ever. The team appears to be getting healthy at the right time, and that is a scary thing for opponents. We’ve seen what Seattle does in the second half of seasons, and Sunday night was the beginning of this years story. So buckle up, because the Hawks are back and it’s going to be a fun ride.
