The Seattle Seahawks embarrassed themselves offensively against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and raising doubts as to their ability to win in the playoffs.

If there was any belief that the Seattle Seahawks had finally turned the corner and become the team we thought they should be this season, this game killed that idea. The 14-5 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers crushed any belief that the the Seahawks had moved passed their early season offensive struggles.

Here are my 5 top takeaways from today’s embarrassing loss:

1. Too many injuries

Last week’s win over the Eagles was costly. The Seahawks had just been starting to get healthy, and then they lost a number of important players to injury before this game.

The defense was without four starters and a pair of key backups. The offense sorely missed center Justin Britt, especially in the run game.

Injuries should never be an excuse. The next man up need to step in an perform. That simply didn’t happen enough today. Those backups are backups, and not starters, for a reason.

There comes a point where teams simply aren’t as good because too many of their good players aren’t in uniform. Seattle reached that point again after last week.

A healthy Seahawks team should have beaten Tampa easily. This Seahawks team simply wasn’t talented enough on offense to do so.
